MEDIA STATEMENT
The SOUTH African National Civic Organisation has welcomed the State of The Nation Address delivered in parliament by the State President today.
The address touched on most bread and butter issues which affect the poorest of the poor. Of all the issues raised in the address, we specifically want to appreciate the emphasis on the following:
The creation of conditions conducive to learning in our schools.
Continuation with social grants as the only tool to fight poverty now.
Intent to treat rural and urban areas equal on development.
Drive to fight crime and abuse of women and children.
Intent to eradicate illiteracy.
Intent to conclude interactions with the taxi industry on the Bus Rapid Transit system.
Intent to create more job opportunities.
We believe that the programme spelt out is reasonable, balanced and achievable. This programme has the capacity to take us through the economic downturn. SANCO calls upon all patriotic citizens to join hands with the government to implement this programme and deliver a better life.
