MESSAGE OF SUPPORT ON THE OCASION OF THE IMVUSELELO CAMPAIGN OF THE AFRICAN NATIONAL CONGRESS TO BE HELD ON THE 23RD MAY 2010 AT KAMHLUSHWA, MPUMALANGA.
DELIVERED BY DEPUTY PRESIDENT: LEMIAS MASHILE
President of the African National Congress and the entire leadership of the Movement,
Leadership of the Communist Party,
Leadership of the Congress of South African Trade Unions; and
Membership of all alliance partners ,
The South African National Civic Organisation appreciates the opportunity granted to address this rally organised by the ANC. We appreciate this conscious decision of the ANC especially given the foreign tendencies that bedevil this glorious movement. Every day, this movement becomes dirtier than yesterday. As SANCO, we are aware, watchful and noting the steps taken to try to remedy some of these tendencies.
We hope and expect that today’s endeavour will also address the following but not limited to:
Gate keeping by some ANC leadership.
Sidelining of comrades from ANC activities.
Playing big brother to alliance partners
Lack of honest alliance meetings at sub national levels.
Madness that reign among comrades in public and elsewhere.
SANCO will also like to call upon the ANC to pay serious attention, this time around, on the selection of councillors as we prepare for the local government elections next year. SANCO has serious interest on this matter as it impacts a lot to our membership. Serious consultations and engagements with alliance partners is required to ensure that we deploy men and women who command respect and trust of the masses in their constituencies.
Let me finish by warning those comrades who misuse their time debating the fate of SANCO. SANCO belongs to its membership. As long as there are communities, SANCO will exist. These coming weeks will see some provinces and regions going to their conferences to renew their mandates. Please, leave them alone. They know what they are doing and they don’t need handlers.
Early next month, we will be launching our own website through which we will communicate to our constituencies and general public. Those interested in SANCO programmes will access such information in this website.
We wish the African National Congress a successful Imvuselelo Campaign to its structures and membership.
I thank you.
Amandla!!!
